Wendel`s Bookstore & Cafe in Fort Langley

very crowed space, no regard for covid laws unfortunately. saw many staff fighting off mosquitoes. got warm coffee and was constantly attacked by mosquitos while eating outside. all the staff looked miserable, i dont blame them. i dont understand why they reopened to the capacity they are allowing? i am sure the owner is just greedy for money. very disappointing. food was okay though. but not worth the hour long wait. do not recommend.

Fabulous food, lots of excellent gluten free options. Great service, fair prices.

Raspberry Italian soda is so good I could live off of it! Breakfasts being served looked amazing.

This little cafe is a must visit if walking around Fort Langley. They have amazing food - including vegetarian and gluten free. Their soups and sandwiches (with gf bread option!) are to die for! My favorite is their Turkey with cranberry sauce. They have a huge selection of their famous Wendel's gluten free baking. They even have a liquor license if you want a treat with your lunch or a spiked coffee. ;) They have lots of dairy free options for their long list of custom coffees and teas. My favorite is their chai latte with almond milk - it's a unique blend of spices unlike any other coffee shop I've been to! They have a decent amount of seats inside and even some on the patio so you can enjoy the fresh air and people watch! This shop is right in the heart of all the little shops and I always make a point of stopping in.

Cute cafe with lots of choices on the menu. It's a bit swishy inside due to distancing but still a nice vibe none the less. Sitting outside was pleasant aside from the mosquitoes which were coming after both me and my food. It is expensive so it's a nice treat once in a while. The whole town looks like a movie set which you will easily notice if you sit outside. The washrooms were average in terms of cleanliness and the staff were friendly.

I brought a beautiful woman with me and had a wonderful time. Friendly atmosphere. Gets quite busy during lunch. Good coffee. Even better company!! Highly recommend a visit here. I just may change your life👍👍

I love the fact that it's a book store AND a cafe. The shop is a bit tight as they don't have much space but only because they have so many books! It mostly caters to the creative types rather than fiction readers, but still they have a little something for everyone!

Wendels is a great place to eat. There's a lot of options to choose from and you can tell they're made from fresh quality ingredients. The price is a little high but again, quality makes it worth it. However, from my experience ordering from wendels, I find that the wraps, salads, and sandwiches are much better than the pastas. I've had their seafood fettuccine, as well as their pasta specials and they're just very heavy and not as flavorful as you'd expect. The pasta itself is also very mediocre quality and it just sits at the pit of your stomach which doesn't feel good. The wraps and salads though are amazing. They're so fresh and they feel much healthier to eat than the pastas. So if you decide to come here, go for the greens!!

Excellent service, the outdoor sitting at the iconic corner makes the afternoon coffee very special, desserts to live for; order online and they bring your order to your table, very convenient

Fresh, fresh everything here taste as if it was cooked or baked that day. They make home made jam for heaven sakes. Service can't be beat will go back for diner.

Quite simply "A Hidden Gem". Best food in whole Lower Mainland. On the pricy side, yes, but it is 100% worth it. Strongly suggest to try out Blackened Wild Salmon Burger, honestly, best burger I have ever had. No exaggeration.

Love Fort Langley BTW it was like we were on vacation in a small town or in the island feels. Then found this friendly cafe. Long line up but I can certainly see why. Great prices, delicious, awesome value. My husband often complaint about restaurant advertise goat cheese salad yet but don't put much in there. Well, he was impressed because there was more goat cheese in his salad than he has ever seen before, he didn't talk much and just enjoying his food lol. The gentleman next to us ended up ordering my wraps after seeing how yummy it looked. It tasted great.

This place is great and super cute. They have a large number of books and journals, very fun. The lines were quite long as it is a popular place.

Always such a great place to visit! This time I had the butter chicken (something I haven't had before) and it was absolutely delicious! Note: you get a lot of naan bread with the order, so don't get any extra unless you want to take half of it home with you. My fiance had the chicken burger and he really loved the flavour. Not dry at all. Overall great experience as per usual!

Not too impressed. I didn't feel safe in there at all - they're not doing a good job with social distancing. They should have a limit of people that they let in. Everyone is standing right beside you. I wish I would've worn a mask. Then, I ordered a London fog and they gave me a coffee instead. The last thing I wanted to do was walk back in there again with all those people and I didn't even get an apology. I won't go back until Covid is over which won't be for a long time.

Good coffee, location and experience. You can look at a few selections of books, journals and accessories while you enjoy your beverage. Outside seating has a hanging heat warmer in case you can't get a seat inside. This place is always busy, and for good reason.

This is THE place to stop for a great breakfast or lunch. Visited for over an hour, line up 10 deep to order and the whole time we were there, no complaints at all from anyone. Fast service, top notch! Highly recommended. Don't forget to tip big, they work hard to keep you happy! Love it...

Good food and coffee but always extremely crowded.

This place has an awesome atmosphere. The books, sit down, and crowd of people visiting the little cafe make this place memorable. I tried their sandwich, tiramisu, and earl grey cake. All of their foods were decent. I would say the sandwich bread should’ve been toasted. But the raspberry jam was super interesting choice of flavour. Also, the earl grey cake was a little hard, I think the fridge was too cold. However, the tiramisu was perfect. Moist cakes, loaded with coffee flavour, creamy, and not too sweet! I would recommend this place!

Food was tasty. Very busy here. My sister and mom really enjoy this place.

Kudos Wendel's! For a one of, local cafe to have online ordering and payment, and execute down to the very minute of the order = Pretty darn impressive! Everything was fresh and delicious. I love Tiramisu, so I order it pretty much everywhere that has it, and the Tiramisu Mason Jar was one of the most flavourful I've had so far. Talk about a place that does it right!

Food is good, pricey like some of these one off coffee houses but par for the course. Seating is a bit wonky and hard to get a table cleared if really busy. couple seats outside but with train and sidewalk right there is a bit inhospitable. Coffee is first rate and decent size.

Great menu of breakfast and lunch options. I had the Coconut Curry with Chicken Soup and the Chicken and Avocado Wrap and both were outstanding. My wife had the Wild Mushroom and Spinach Hash and she enjoyed it. Go early on a sunny day and get a table on their patio for a relaxing breakfast or lunch. We will back to try more items on their menu.

Fabulous strawberry and rhubarb pie and very good espresso coffee. They don't do flat whites unfortunately but the latte was great though.

Wendel's seemed to be the place to get coffee in Fort Langley. It was very lively. My wife ordered a mocha and I ordered a latte with a Prosciutto pastry. The coffees were good and the pastry was very tasty. We enjoyed our time in the little place.

Great food! Nice and cozy. Love sitting on the patio on a warm summer day.. One of my favorite local spots to eat at. The desserts are awesome as well.

We went to this place on our way from Vancouver to Langley! My mother in law loves their chilli yam bowl and I have to say, after trying it I'm a fan as well! Everything we ordered was super yummy! They have indoors as well as outdoors settings! Their service was top notch! Although the place was very crowded we did not have to wait long for our food to get delivered! Would definitely visit again!

Very beautiful shop, this was my first time here. I was was very impressed by the selection of books. Also the books are fairly priced and lots of good deals. We had our lunch take out style and it was very fast and fresh. The salmon burger was amazing but the Mac and cheese and coffee was just okay. I would eat here again.

A classic spot in Fort Langley! Lots of great sandwiches, salads, and rice bowls to choose from with a decent amount of veggie and vegan options. It can get really busy, so you occasionally have to wait for a table. Because it’s so busy, it’s not a great place to work or study, and the WiFi isn’t great either. Instead, come to enjoy the food and some time with your favourite people.

Great Coffee shop. I love the baked goods they bake daily.

My wife & I have been going to Wendel's repeatedly since we found it! We have been there 5 times so far and are going again next week. Everything we have had on the menu has been absolutely fabulous!! Place your order, sit down and they deliver! There is always a line-up, which is an excellent sign that the food is good. The order process goes very quickly and the wait times are minimal. Worth every penny! Staff are excellent - don't know who is running the kitchen but they are doing are great job! Highly recommend!

It's a good Cafe and a good place to relax, but always need to wait a long line for ordering.

Good food, good service! The place is charming not too big but, worth the drive! Excellent location! After a fantastic breakfast, snack, lunch and a great coffee, you can enjoy an awesome walk through the Old Fort Langley, its downtown or a brisk walk by the River Fraser to burn out some the calories you've probably consumed!

Friend brought me here. Nice place in fort langley. Has full meals for a place that looks like a bookstore. Lots of outdoor patio seating. You order at the counter like a coffee shop and they bring your food and drinks out to you. Nice to sit and chat plus enjoy watching locals and their dogs strolling around town. It is right near the train tracks and water as well so it is quite unique. The food items are a little on the pricier side, I think it was about 16-17 for the seafood pasta I got. I love pasta though so I can't complain. The sauce and pasta was nice and the shrimps were nice. The fish was a little dry, but I am not an expert though. I enjoyed the environment and the low stress atmosphere.

Really nice staff, they gave us bug spray to help with the mosquitos and had super quick service for such a busy spot. The breakfast sandwich was delicious and so was the truffle pesto parmesan pastry. I would definitely like to try more of the food on the menu.

Ease up on the salt. It’s supposed to enhance flavour... not obscure it. More can always be added, but it can’t be removed.

I never knew the gluten free pastry brand had a cafe chain!Cute little place that offers gluten free pastries. Maybe too little though, as the place was very crowded and it was difficult to find personal space.As for food, the cheesecake is great but their coffee left a lot to be desired. They gave me a full refund though, which is awesome.Regardless, I'm happy to see another restaurant offering gluten free.

Literally, this restaurant is favourited on my Google Maps. Love the ambiance, location, food and service. I go here at least once per week.A couple downsides. It gets VERY busy. Like a line at any time of day. Secondly, as a result of its popularity, seating can be hard to find. Still - it's worth it.

I love this place. It's just perfect. The books are among the best ever written and the combination of having an amazing cafe right in the same place... it's a match made in heaven. 📚💞☕ (Plus the girl who works there is just the best ever!) Can't wait to go back!
